Botox - what is Botox
Botox is a tried-and-tested treatment that has been used in medicine since the 1970s. Over the past 15 years, Botox has been used commercially for the medicinal correction of facial wrinkles and excessive sweating in palms of your hands or armpits. The treatment may even relieve tension headaches and migraines.Botox is excellent at getting rid of wrinkles on your forehead and the area between your eyebrows. It may also be used to reduce so-called “crows’ feet” wrinkle lines in the corners of your eyes.
The procedure works by nubing the muscles that cause expressions, relaxing them so that the skin retains a smoother, less worried appearance.
What is Botox?
Botox is a protein that is completely natural and harmless in the right dosage. The full effect is experienced after approximately two weeks and treatment lasts between three and six months, with a gradual weakening thereafter.
Some swelling may occur directly after the treatment, as well as redness and some bruising in the treated area. However, these all disappear quickly and follow-up treatments help retain the desired effect.
Botox is also an excellent complement to Restylane.
